INSTRUCTOR PROFILE - Kyle Smith

Kyle Smith is a Battalion Chief with Cobb County (GA) Fire & Emergency Services, assigned to Battalion 4. He has been in the fire service since 1993 and worked in career and volunteer fire departments. He started his fire service career in Auburn (AL) while attending Auburn University, volunteering at the Southwest Fire Department and working for the City of Auburn Fire Division before moving to the Atlanta area and joining the Cobb County Fire Department in 2000. Kyle also works as a consultant for a fire protection engineering firm specializing in big box retail, where he has obtained fire protection certifications from NFPA and NICET. He has been a certified instructor since 2004, teaching for local and State agencies, both hands-on and classroom. Additionally, he has taught at FDIC, Metro Atlanta Fire Fighters Conference, High-Rise Operations Conference, and Fire Rescue International. Kyle worked to help start the High-rise working group tasked with teaching high-rise firefighting and alarm systems to all new recruits. Kyle also represents the fire service on the NFPA 14-Standpipe Systems technical committee.
